CURRENT AFFAIRS OF 15th OCTOBER 2022

  1. Global Handwashing Day 2022 is observed on the 15th October. Global Handwashing Day 2022 theme is, “Unite for Universal Hand Hygiene”.
  2. International Day of Rural Women is observed on the 15th of October every year.
  3. White Cane Safety Day is observed on the 15th of October each year.
  4. World Students Day is observed on the 15th of October, to honour the birthday of our former President, the late Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam.
  5. Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day is observed on the 15th of October.
  6. Defence Minister of India, Rajnath Singh has launched the ‘Maa Bharati Ke Sapoot’ (MBKS) website for the Armed Forces Battle Casualties Welfare Fund (AFBCWF) during a function at the National War Memorial Complex in New Delhi.
  7. According to the 2022 Commitment to Reducing Inequality Index (CRII), India has moved up 6 places to rank 123 out of 161 countries for reducing inequality.
  8. The Union Ministry of Law and Justice has organised an All India Conference of Law Ministers and Law Secretaries from 14th to 17th October, 2022 at Ekta Nagar in Gujarat.
  9. India ranks 107 out of 121 countries on the Global Hunger Index in which it fares worse than all countries in South Asia barring war-torn Afghanistan.
  10. Meghalaya has hosted the four-day long mega global adventure sports spectacle, ‘Megha Kayak Festival, 2022’ starting 13 October at the picturesque Umtrew River at Umtham Village.
  11. Jammu and Kashmir Lt Governor Manoj Sinha on 13 October, 2022 inaugurated the 6th Senior Asian Pencak Silat Championship being held in Srinagar.
  12. India began their ISSF World Championship campaign with a bronze in the women’s 25m pistol team junior competition in Cairo, Egypt on 13 October, 2022.
  13. The Tamil Nadu government has notified the Kadavur Slender Loris Sanctuary, the first Indian sanctuary for the endangered Slender Loris in Karur and Dindigul districts.
  14. Ladakh Police in collaboration with the Administration of Union Territory of Ladakh, and the Cycling Association of India organized the first-ever Mountain Bicycle (MTB) World Cup – the ‘UCI MTB Eliminator World Cup’ in Leh, Ladakh, India.
  15. India participated at the 6th East Asia Summit Education Minister’s Meeting held on 14 October, 2022 in Hanoi, Vietnam.
  16. On the 103rd birthday of late Lt Gen PS Bhagat, the Indian Army has dedicated a Chair of Excellence in his memory at the United Service Institution of India.
  17. Rudrankksh Patil on 14 October, 2022 won gold in men’s 10m air rifle event at the ISSF world Championship.
